Karma is a Crazy Thing

I've always felt that "what goes around, comes around."

Saturday was a tough day in our house. It began early in the AM, with a phone call from 2 floors down. Whenever Mo wants to see me, it's usually something bad. In this case, it was an argument between her and Pop. I'll spare you the details, or this entry will go on for eons, but suffice it to say that Mo wasn't feeling her best, and Pop was in no mood to deal with any of it.

Mo was sick. She was having trouble with her legs (she'd been diagnosed with Diabetes, but is no longer doing anything about it because her blood sugar is regulated) and her mood was off. She was slurring her words and falling asleep in the middle of sentences. We discovered that she was given some of her medication too early in the morning, and assumed that these symptoms were due to her meds being off.

She slept all day. ALL DAY. Because she was sleeping, she didn't take ANY of the other pills she was supposed to be taking. She didn't eat. She was still unable to stay awake, speak coherently, or move her body on her own. By 11:00, the decision was made to force her to go to the ER. (She had refused the trip all day & night long)

As it turns out, she had a severe infection in her foot from a blister that had a mind of its own. It was the infection & fever that caused all of the other symptoms. She's been in the hospital for 2 days so far, and MAY be released this afternoon.

When I spoke to her on the phone Monday afternoon she sounded MUCH better... almost cheerful. Because I've had a cold, I wasn't able to visit her, which I'm sure will create some issue down the road.

Needless to say, we had a few days of ugly behavior in our home. Many things were said, implied, and unspoken (thankfully, the unspoken part was for me!! Hurray) and we'll just have to see how things go.

Patience, my friends, should come in a fast-acting pill. I'd buy stock in it.

More later...
