'Trip Alert: MY FLIGHT IS CANCELLED

For those of you that haven't known me long, I have ONE, continual issue that has plagued me for the last 23 years: Mother Nature does not want me to be in NJ... ever.

In 1985, I went away to college in SC; a 12-hour drive from home. On occasion, I found a way to get home to NJ, and without fail, we experienced some form of precipitation. It didn't matter - rain or snow or sleet - it was coming down on my head. It would seem that I am exaggerating, "Clearly, it couldn't have rained/snowed/sleeted EVERY time?" Uh, yeah. It could. It did. It DOES. Driving or flying, there is bound to be an issue.

Today, we have the same story.

Mom called me on Tuesday, "Uh, Col? Be careful. We are expecting 1-2 inches of snow on Friday." Wednesday was, "Col, the weather is calling for 2-4 inches of snow on Friday." By Thursday night it was, "Did you see the news? 6-10 inches of snow is expected. Be careful." Really, Mom? No need to be careful when I can't get out of the freaking state! My flight... is... CANCELLED and there's not another one until 8pm tomorrow.

Anywho, here I am. I am going to try to re-book for NEXT weekend, as soon as I can get through to Continental Airlines... I am not holding my breath! Today I will locate my unwrapped, NJ-bound gifts and get them to the OBX Transit for shipping. I will unpack. I will make all of the necessary phone calls to friends and family to reschedule all that has been scheduled, and offer my apologies.

TGIF & Bah Humbug.
