Last week was, well, a bad, bad week. Between my magazine deadline, my boss visiting from Knoxville, working at the rental house, AND business with the town, we also had visitors staying with us.
Traditionally, company stresses me out. It doesn’t matter who it is or how long they are staying, I get consumed with getting rooms ready, buying food, and drinks, and trying to be the hostess with the mostess. This group was especially challenging because there were 6 more bodies to care for.
They were really great guests (albeit messy and loung-y) and I miss them all already. We had a great time playing and laughing and getting to know them. We also had a heck of a time cleaning-up sand from every crevasse from our home, restocking the cupboard, trying to regain our sense of hearing.
Faith (11) wanted to do something nice as a “Thank You” so she and her mom went to Glaze n’ Go Nuts, and painted a project for me! Here it is:
How sweet is that? One night we sat and talked for a while, and tried to get to know each other. She asked me a million questions, and the picture depicts some of the answers. (Yes, my favorite things include giraffes, sea turtles, popcorn and Diners, Drive Ins & Dives… and Chip!)
She worked on it for HOURS and I just picked it up today. When I sent her a text to thank her, she told me that she missed me and loved me. Then I cried a little.
I want to kidnap her.
