Wednesday we arrived in Cozumel. It was sunny and lovely when we left the room, towing the old folks along. By the time we got down to the deck to disemarq, Mabel was refusing to go any further. She was out of breath, and wheezing because she still had a touch of a cold/cough. Chip offered to carry her, trying desperatly not to have her bail, but in the end I had to RUN all the way up 9 decks to get her wheelchair, which she refused in the beginning.
By the time I met-up with the team, I was tired and it was raining. Thank GOD we had grabbed Mabel's rain hat, or I would have had to put a trash bag over her head.
We got off of the ship with NO issues, even though we were now toting TWO cheelchairs. We jumped into the taxis and headed to Chakanaab (something tlike that) Park to see the dolphins. There is a BIG lomg story here, but I don't have the energy or the right words to really tell you how things went. Suffice it to say, Mabel was overjoyed watching the dolphins... for the whole 13 minutes that she was awake. Mo was only really awake for about 8 of those minutes. Chip, Pop & I just sot on a bench and hoped for 12:00 to arrive so we could get outta there.
One we were back at port, we found a super little Mexican place to have lunch. I taught Aunt Mabel, "Una mas cervasa, por favor" and the waiter taught everyone "No mas margaritas por Colleen!" I was flat-out bashed in 1.5 margaritas. They were huge and SOOOO tasty. And I must say, I was not a little drunk, but WAAAAY drunk. After our morning, it just seemed to make sence. Oh yeah, in my stupor I also ate about 4 orders of the best salsa I've ever had... with a spoon. It was not pretty.
In this stupor I purchased a beautiful bracelet and ring. I looked at my AMEX bill this AM and almost burst into tears... it was like $3,000,000 pesos or some ridiculous amout. "Surely AMEX would NOT have let that go through!" Then I saw the USD conversion, WHEW!
We met up with Kim, David & Matt right around dinner and heard about their trip to the Mayan ruins, which turned out to be less than they had expected. We ate at the, you guessed it, BUFFET, and during our meal Jewell told Kim that her favorite part of her trip to Cozumel was sleeping. Nice, huh? Chip flipped out and left the table. We are all trying really hard to make sure that everyone is involved and having a good time, and it seems like we are doing all of the work. It's no wonder that everyone peeled off to do thier own thing today. I have a strong urge to check on the old gals, but as my friend Colleen says, "It's not my monkey" so I am leaving it to the rest of the family.
The sun is screaming hot today, but it's very windy and cold on deck. I sat out for about an hour and wished I had a sweatshirt the whole time. I am 3/4 of the way through the 2nd book in the Twilight series and I am LOVING it! (Thanks Jamie!!)
Mom, pleae drop me an e-mail and let me know how things are going at home. Kiss Riley for me!!
Everyone, please have a FANTASTIC Thanksgiving. We're all thinking of you and wishing we could be together this holiday.
SMOOCHES, Col
