OBX Eats: Red Drum

Greetings, fellow Foodies!

Spring is in the air and the beach is starting to buzz. I can see little pops of green poking through and that can only mean one thing - some of my favorite restaurants are going to start to open for the season! WOO HOO! Let's start by welcoming back our friends at the Red Drum Grille and Taphouse in Nags Head!

Red Drum is open for lunch and dinner – both equally delish. They are a member of the “Outer Banks Catch” which means that the seafood is locally caught… fresh, fresh, fresh. Entrees run between $15 and $25, and the portions are large. The menu includes their famous baby back ribs, great steaks, burgers, steamed seafood, sandwiches, crisp salads, fish 'n chips, fresh tuna burritos, quesadillas and more. It’s also family friendly.

We have a friend that comes to visit (ha, who doesn’t) and all he’ll order is the Jambalaya… and a slice of Key Lime pie. The Gamefish Burritos could feed two easily, and the Pork Chops are dreamy. This time I ordered the special - Parmesan Encrusted Rockfish, with a Roasted Garlic Salsa, over Wild Mushroom Risotto. (Diet? What diet?) I washed it down with an icy-cold Blue Moon and I was full and happy.

Go for lunch. Go for apps. Go for dinner. Just go. With 18 beers on tap and a fantastic selection of bottled beer, a pool table and a casual atmosphere, Red Drum is a favorite with locals and visitors. If you have a larger party, try going a little early as they tend to fill up.

Eat Local. Always!
