August… Already?

Where has the Summer gone? When I look back on the past few months there's very little that I can remember, which is sad. Time just whips by and at the end, what do you have? Well, I did pay off a credit card in July – that felt really, really good (it was once maxed out. Shame on me.) But now YAY on me! OK, I know that “Yay on me” makes no sense, but so what? Who cares?

My husband and a friend got all worked up over purchasing a foreclosed oceanfront duplex for about 2 weeks. By the time they decided to go for it, the property already had 12 offers. The tricky part was that it was un-rebuildable (Yes, I know that’s not a word. Once it’s damaged more than a certain percent, it needs to be torn down and you have walk away). Hubby asked for my opinion so I clearly expressed how undesirable it felt to me, and then I tried to let it go. I knew that it wasn’t going to happen, and working to let it follow it’s natural dissolve was a tough exercise. I’d give myself a C-.

We just learned that the town of Kill Devil Hills is looking to imageallow a Lowe’s to be built… across the street from my house. OK, well, it’s not exactly across the street, but it might as well be. 4 lots & a street away is way too close. The lights, the loss of trees, the sound of delivery trucks all night, new traffic… yuck. I’ll keep you in the loop on this one.

Next week I am driving 4 hours North to pick-up my cousin, Ketti, and my 2 nieces, Jordan and Devynn, for a little NC vacation. We’re all excited and I hope that we can be crying-free for a least a little while. We have big plans: Pirate Story Time, a trip to the Aquarium, the pool, the beach… and naps. Lots of naps.

Last night we learned that a six-pack of beer in Grand Cayman, where we are headed for Thanksgiving this year, is over $40. A 6-pack! Oh. no.

Thanks for stopping by to check on me and get an update!
