It’s just 4 days away, and I still haven’t been hit by the Christmas spirit. I could kid you and say that I carry it with me everyday (which I really do try to do) but I’m just not feeling it. Maybe it’s the fact that I don’t have little ones near by to keep me thinking of Santa. I don’t know.
I did get a wonderful present this year though – my husband make the trek to NJ with me! It took a little bit lot of prodding and a slight major guilt trip from my parents, but he did it. We packed-up, grabbed Riley and his back injury, and Callie with her anxiety issues, and headed North. We knew that a storm was brewin’ but didn’t pack our boots or anything that could have helped with the 20+ inches that were eventually dumped on us, but we had a good time anyway.
These are my cutie pie nieces, Devynn (near the tree) and Jordan (playing with some kind of silly putty sand that I mistakenly thought would be really clean because it comes with a little inflatable tray to catch all the dribble. Uh, not so much.)
Chip and I spent some time babysitting, and although Devynn was sick, Callie had no worries about catching her germs. Have a look:
These trips always leave me wanting more time, but we did a pretty good job. This will be the year that Susanne gave some new meaning to “Christmas Shoes.”
We left NJ and headed to Baltimore. It was so great to spend a little time with Chip’s family, and enjoy our new great-nephew, Chase. What a cutie he is!
Now we’re back in NC, and I am trying to catch-up on all the work that I missed while I was away. I have just a few small things left to buy, and then we’ll be done.
C’mon 2010!!
