Remember how I JUST said there's been nothing much to write about? WELL... I need to be careful what I wish for!
I'll begin with my trip to the Acupuncturist. Cheryl was great. Very approachable, knowledgeable, and kind. We started with a discussion about my issue and then went on to some acupuncture. It was cool, actually! While lying face down, she rubbed a few spots with alcohol, and gently placed the needles all over my back, neck, head, arms, hands and feet. Tap, tap and a little twist. No sweat. She aimed a heating lamp on my feet (nice and toasty!) and left me to marinate for 20 minutes. There was music and aromatherapy... It was very relaxing. (SIDE NOTE: when there are needles jammed in you, DO NOT MOVE. I tried to get a look at my hand and that was a BAD, BAD idea.) I had a half-a-thought to ask her to take a picture for the blog, but thought better of it. I don't know her, and I was 1/2 naked. The two should never mix.
ANYWAY! After she pulled the needles out, she did some cupping. Cupping is an ancient Chinese practice in which a "jelly jar," with hot air in it, is applied to the skin and the pressure in the cup pulls the muscle and new blood in to the surface of the skin.
This is a CRAZY feeling, but good like a deep, deep muscle massage. The drawback is that it leaves red & purple, circular bruises all over the place. (PS- this is not my back, but it could be)
I didn't feel too different when I left, but Friday AM it was MUCH better!
Then comes Friday night... The short of it is that Spud is sick again. He was up all night pacing, panting, whining, and generally making sleep impossible. We knew it was bad when he didn't eat breakfast, so we were off to the vet. 3 hours later and multiple IV's, sedatives, and antibiotics, I was relieved of my paw-holding duty, and went home to have a good old-fashioned meltdown. Lack of sleep, coupled by the return of the pain in my arm (and now back), frustration, and a general lousy week resulted in hysterical tears. After a hug from Chip and a good chat with my mom, I was feeling a little better, and settled in for a LONG nap. I picked-up the little man about 6:30, and maintained my dog-watch duties which included taking him outside to pee in the rain, and trying to catch samples in a cup. Good times.
Today is Sunday. It's rainy and dreary. Spudder is feeling better, but isn't quite himself yet. I am making a prime rib roast for dinner, courtesy of our refrigerator/freezer breaking down, and plan to eat myself into a dinner coma and get ready to go after a new week.
WHEW! What's next???

Dear Colleen, I almost felt like crying about reading of your misadventures. But somehow, as I kept reading, you get funny and make me laugh. I hope by now you are feeling better and so is the dog.- Grace
