And the Family Grows

... not to be confused with "As the World Turns," although if there were to be a soap-opera family in real life, we'd be it.

Today we officially welcome Chase Desjardins to the drama that is our lives. He was born this afternoon, and weighs 8 pounds, 6+ ounces. As soon as I get a picture I'll post it. (SHAME on every member of the Almoney family that has a camera phone. What is wrong with you people??!?!?! I am WAITING!!) ** Update: I had to wait 3 hours for this!! **

We learned that Jamie, Chip's niece, was going to have to have a c-section on Wednesday. Baby Chase had his mind set on coming into the world feet first, but the doctor disagreed. It's amazing how people react to the whole c-section turn of events.

Poor Aunt Mabel said to me, "It's a shame she won't be able to have any other children." HUH? WHAT? I explained that she could have as many children as she wanted! It's not like the doctor is going to close up the baby-making shop while he's in there!

Jamie told me that people asked her if she was upset. Is there really something to be upset about? Sure, it wasn't in HER plan, but it's not HER plan that matters. It's the baby's plan. It's nature's plan. It's God's plan. Whatever, it is what it is.

Aside from all of that, I am quite excited. It'll be fun to have a new baby to harass and love and spoil and observe. Jamie and Phil will be great parents. They are smart and loving. They are clearly patient, and managing all of the family antics is good practice for what's to come.

I hope that Chase is healthy, and strong, and smart. I hope he is silly like his Uncle Matthew, and charming like his Great-Uncle Chip. I hope he learns how to be a good friend and a hard worker. I hope he can fix things without breaking them. I hope he will eat more than chicken fingers and ketchup. I hope he gets to keep a pet frog or turtle or fish, that he finds in a creek. I hope he enjoys a good giggle.

I love him already.

Oh congratulations! I know you will spoil him, but that's what you're there for.
