Nope, but it was Dawn! We had a weekend visitor, my good friend Dawn. She lives in Atlanta, and was not touched by the tornados, so please don't ask her. For those of you that don't know, Atlanta is HUGE and covers, like, 7 counties. So she is OK. Don't worry.![]()
This is a picture of her, sort of, and it's one of my FAVORITE wedding photos! Thanks goodness for Hollywood glasses!
Anyway, we had LOVELY weather on Saturday, about 75ish, so we loaded the dogs in the car and headed to the Nags Head Nature Preserve for a walk. Usually, I can only take 1 pooch, and it's usually Riley because he has separation anxiety and won't run away. It makes the walking experience much more enjoyable. He can run and sniff and pee all over the place and not interrupt my pace. Because I had 2 extra hands, we took all 3.
Callie did well, and was the pack leader - despite that Caesar (Dog Whisperer) would say that I was supposed to be the leader. Oh well. Riley was a prince and listened well, and Spud tried to pick a fight with another dog. We escaped without harm, and enjoyed a hike that was about 4 1/2 miles. Needless to say, we all slept well!
She and I went to church this AM, and a good bit of the sermon was about letting go -- of fear, of hate, of limitations. Father Bill said that if you didn't feel like you were experiencing some kind of drama, "you should check your foot for a toe tag." I'm not kidding, that's exactly what he said. It's good to know that I must be alive, as I have LOTS of drama!
After church the whole crew, plus Phil & Robin, had a yummy brunch at Red Sky. (Note to self: skip the smoked rockfish next time, it was not good. At all. Yuck. No no no)
It was great to have Down here for a visit, and I hope the downtime and fresh, beach air did her some good. I'm looking forward to her next trip in April.
Ciao! ~ Colleen
