Lucky People

Some people are lucky. I’m not really of of them. I wouldn’t go so far as to say that I am UN-lucky, but good things-surprises-happenstance don’t really follow me.

My husband, and his family, are not the luckiest people to walk the planet either. There have been times where you can actually (almost) see the gray clouds hovering above. It’s a little weird.

This past weekend we drove to MD to celebrate Chip’s 50th birthday with friends and family. “50?” you ask? Yup, the big 5-oh. Yup, that’s how old his grandfather was when he passed away. Ouch (of course we have to back that up with the fact that his other grandfather was just shy of his 104th birthday when he passed.) We were up until 2am the night of the party, awoke at 7:00am to begin the process of getting home. Temps reached a scorching 107 degrees and it was a fight to stay awake while driving in all that traffic.

I’m not really sure how it all transpired, but by the time we pulled into the driveway (5:30pm) Chip’s mom was VERY ill. She was disoriented, couldn’t stay awake, had a 104 temp… so off in an ambulance she went to the Outer Banks Hospital, the worst hospital on the planet. At 1:00am they transported her to the hospital in Norfolk – over an hour away. Diagnoses included dangerously low BP, UTI, MRSA (the staff infection that can kill you), oh, and a touch of pneumonia.

As of a few moments ago, we learn that she could be coming home today. If this is true, it’s her shortest hospital stay to date!! YAY!! Here are a few other lucky people:
